Everything You Need to Know about the Best Tablet with USB Port
While I have a reliable laptop and desktop computer at home, the concept of owning a tablet with USB port appeals to me. For instance, I like the fact that it is lightweight, portable, and easy to bring wherever I go. This handy device is also perfect for emailing while on the road, preparing my presentation for business purposes, note-taking, web browsing, and a million other tasks that I do every single day. Naturally, I think using a tablet is very convenient since I’m not the type who’s dependent on intricate spreadsheets. Moreover, I just need a compact device that is easy on the eyes instead of putting up with my smartphones with small screens. After few days researching the best device that would fit my needs I at last found the perfect one for me which is Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3 Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook.
Yes it is not a tab but it is an ultrabook that based on my research the best one when it comes to tablet with usb port. There are another option for me that I think also the best tablet with usb port which are ASUS VivoTab RT TF600T and Lenovo ThinkPad Twist but after few days researching and asking my techno-wizard friends then I decided to go with Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga.
The Search for the Perfect Tablet with USB Port – My Top Six Options
After I have decided to get myself a brand new tablet, I started checking online for reviews and ratings of the highly recommended brands. Personally, I have always been an Apple fan, and I was instantly moved to purchase an iPad because of the remarkable features and retina display. However, I also want a tablet that comes with a USB port, so I can play my favorite films, music or view photos saved in my flash drive. Since I have no plans of purchasing a tablet with massive memory storage, I figured the device should at least enable me to store files in my flash drive for practical reasons.
With this in mind, I gave up on my initial urge to buy an Apple iPad, and I started looking for other quality brands in the market that meet my needs. Fortunately, I came up with my top six list, which I will share to you now. During my search, I have taken into consideration the pros and cons of each, so I was able to come up with the final decision of purchasing one from my list.
1. Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3 Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook.
My top choice of tablet with usb port- Getting a tab with usb port is not an easy task because most of the tablets that’re available on the market today came with sleek and thin design. So, to have a USB 2.0 or 3.0 socket to such thin device is impossible. The best option that’s available for me is Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga. Even though it is an ultrabook it has the acapability to flip the screen 360 degree! That’s awesome and when in this mode the screen would be on top and the keyboard would be at the bottom. Since the weight for an ultrabook is very light so I don’t feel like holding a laptop or an ultrabook when I’m on tablet mode. I highly suggest to watch the video below how the best tablet with USB port (according to me) in action.
2. ASUS VivoTab RT TF600T
This is another great option for me where you can have an additional portable keyboard that available with USB port on it. So, when you attach the tab on the keyboard the device would act just like a regular laptop. However, I prefer IdeaPad Yoga because it’s much more flexible and I could bring it anywhere as one solid device instead of 2 separated devices like Asus VivoTab. If I have a tight budget I would definitely purchase this one.
The other cool feature is it comes with a stylus where you can use to draw anything on the tablet. If you’re looking for a tablet with usb port at decent price this one should be considered to be put in your list. The best way to buy this model is to purchase all of the separated devices at once where you can get much discount. You can check it out HERE for discount.
3. Lenovo ThinkPad Twist S230u
This is another great option if you’re looking for all in one device or tab that’s available with regular usb port. This model seems pretty similar with the features of my purchase Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3 and plus it has more awesome feature where you can twist the screen in any position you like. It’s highly flexible and a perfect ultrabook that could be switch to tab mode anytime you want. However I prefer Lenovo IdeaPad since it has larger screen at 13.3″ compared to this one 12.5″.
4. Asus Memo Pad Smart
What I liked most about this brand of tablet (aside from the low price) was the solid features it contains. Sure, the Asus Memo Pad Smart does not come with the latest cutting-edge specs, yet it has everything I have ever wanted in a tablet. I was instantly impressed by the remarkable IPS display, which almost matched Apple’s praise-worthy screen and display. Additionally, the tablet comes with dual-band WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, 1280 x 800 sharp IPS display, and Nvidia Tegra3 Quad Core that is an ultimate component for gamers just like me. What’s more, it comes with a mini USB port and micro SD card slot, so I can use my game controllers or flash drives. Quite a nifty device for less than $300, I must say.
As with any product, this tablet comes with minor limitations since I think the internal storage speeds may still be improved, even when it is a bit faster than the older models of Asus Transformer. Unfortunately just like other regular tablet, there is no regular USB port that you can use for mouse or external hard drive connection.
5. Acer Iconia Tab
My next finding of tablet with mini USB post – Like what I stated previously, I wanted to look into three brands before I came up with the top brands of tablet with USB host that fit my needs and budget. The Acer Iconia was among my top three because of its full HD display that simply blew me away. It features an impressive 1920 x 1200 multitouch sharp and clear display, and it operates on Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich on a stable Nvidia Tegra3 quad core. In addition, it has all the perks that I want in a tablet such as the front and rear cam, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and USB port.
Unfortunately, I am not convinced to purchase this brand of tablet because the touch screen seems to miss a few taps and it lags occasionally. The back part of the device tends to heat up, as well, after a few hours of continuous usage. And most importantly there is no regular 2.0 or 3.0 USB port.
6. Toshiba Excite
The last brand and model on my list for tablet with usb port was the Toshiba Excite, although the tablet has jaw-dropping features that beat the dust in most tablet brands in the market. In fact, it is a tight competition of the Samsung Galaxy tab when it comes to the lavish features and speed. Toshiba has an edge, though because it does not need a carrier agreement unlike Samsung. Moreover, it has a 5 megapixel rear cam, 2 megapixel front cam, and it can record 1080p video. Other outstanding features include the USB port and microSD card slot, and you have the option to purchase a tablet with 16 or 32 GB storage.
While the device has the most elegant appearance, gorgeous display and excellent speed, it has a few drawbacks such as the lack of HDMI port and a hefty price tag. Again this model also doesn’t come with regular USB port.
After the long search for the best tablet with USB port, I finally settled on the first item on my list, which was the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3 Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook. I like its great display, functional components and its flexibility to be on tablet mode or ultrabook mode . In fact, I have been using it for a few months already, and I’m very much satisfied with its consistently good performance and durability.
